PCC is a fine college as long as you know what to expect going into it.

Christianity: Anything other than strict Indep. Fundamental Baptist theology will not be openly tolerated. All students (with rare exception) must go to the on-campus "Campus Church". Be prepared to like southern gospel music these days or to suffer through it each Sunday. Strong emphasis on Bible memorization and reading.

Academics: I found their English program particularly excellent. The degree is non-accredited. I had many excellent, challenging professors, though some professors tended to use too many "scantron" multiple choice tests - imho these tests evaluate mostly how good of a test taker you are and to a lesser extent the knowledge you have internalized. I think essay tests and projects are a much better evaluation method.

Social Life: It is possible to make life-long friends. The administration both "pushes" student dating and yet places heavy restrictions on where and when your relationship can occur (e.g. walking along certain paths with members of the opposite sex, even in the open, in broad daylight, can get you "socialed"= you may not talk to anyone of the opposite sex for 2 weeks, if you do you get a pile of demerits. If you get 150 demerits in a semester, you are required to drop out.) Because of this, I found it best to avoid dating while at college. I focused on doing well in my academics and keeping casual friends. (Though one still had to be careful of those rules… we could not walk back from dinner along a certain walkway with a guy-friend and talk. We had to walk a certain distance in front of him until we got to a chaperoned building, or we had to walk on separate paths). As long as you catch onto these rules quickly and just learn to live with them, its fine. If living like this will bother you, don't enroll here!
