My daughter attended the Summer Pre-college program and will attend Fall 2007, then switch to UMES. The whole summer program she was made to feel she was dam lucky to have gotten into Morgan. That if it was for the summer program she would have had no hope for college. She was accepted at three other colleges but picked Morgan based on it's reputation for it's Elementarty Education program. Morgan was the only college that did not accept her with out attending the precollege program in which she had two As and a B. She has dyslexia and did not do well on the SATs and was deemed needing the summer program which she willingly attended, btu she had other choices! She like her actual teachers, but the admistrators continually made the summer program student body feel low and of no worth. I can also add dealing with the financial aid office was absolutely ridiculous. Multiple phone calls never resulted in return calls. emails were not returned promptly at first (until I emailed the director) and they were lenthly and never addressed my questions and problems. This all after our intial college visit that went very badly. I should have let that be my warning. We made a Sat appointment during my daughter's senior HS year, showed up at the time, but no represetative was there. We waited an hour with the other family who also had an appointment. I called several times during the next week and never got return calls. Then finaly after a few calls to that department's director I finally got a call back, and we had the visit and tour. The college overall just seems very disorganized. They should realize students have other choices, and should not treat them as if they were lucky Morgan allowed them to come, but that Morgan was luckly the students picked it… |
