I would have to say that the one biggest problem with the school is that there is a pervasive sense that the very bright students are a bit bitter that they didn't get into Princeton or its ilk, and the majority of the students that are happy to be at Rutgers aren't that bright. I don't regret that I went to Rutgers as it is well received in the working world as a respectable University and did provide me with a very good education. However, I tended to be a bit disappointed with the aforementioned dichotomy between the very bright and not too bright students. As I was neither an academic all star that fit in with the brilliant students or someone who would have struggled to spell dichotomy, I found it hard to find a place to fit in. If I could do it over, I would probably have gone to a smaller private school that had more students who fell in between these two extremes. |
