Statistical Analyzer:

I was a commuter student who recently left the Marines and had a very nice place to live in Madison Heights, about nine miles north of LU. Liberty is a great school, but they lack in activities. The City of Lynchburg doesn't help in that department, either.

I'm not the most social person, granted; while I did make some acquaintances here, I expected more. The only social activities are occasional movie nights, late-night skates at the LU LaHaye Ice Center, and late-night concerts called "coffeehouse". While I may not get out very much, I didn't meet that many people in the Student Center or the East Campus Clubhouse, either.

The campus is dead during the summer, and all the students vacate the ridiculously paleo-conservative City of Lynchburg. There is a constant threat of being caught by LU's RAs in a bar or tavern, which is the only fun activity around that crappy town. Nobody wants to hire any full-time LU students for a decent job; this was not the biggest deal in the world during the school year, as I received GI Bill money from the government. However, once summer hit, all that assistance went away and I was stuck making about 900 bucks a month. That's not exactly enough money to go out and have some fun very often.

I was set to do another semester this fall when the Marines called me up and asked if I wanted to work in Kansas City for a while. I accepted and am typing this from my desk at this moment, making over double what I did working in Lynchburg. My DLP courses start a week from Monday.

Overall, I would not consider going here unless you have (or plan to make) lots of friends in the area and bring your own things to do. Washington, D.C. is four hours away, as is Virginia Beach and Williamsburg. I hope this helps.
