However, my situation wasn't the best. My first year my roommate got kicked out. I had networked through him to make friends and I was basically lost after that. I realized that students rely too much on their roommates and should go out and discover more. The first couple of weeks of school the greek scene is all over the freshman areas and has parties to recruit new members. New students are intimidated and think that joining a frat/sorority is the only thing to do. Most end up rushing and those who don't really do lose out socially. I personally didn't like frats so I didn't want to rush. There are many clubs on campus to get involved in, but it seems as if people are just there for club business not for friendship. I am still waiting to see if I can meet some new friends here but once that first month of school pases if you didn't get "in" with a group, don't plan on it unless you can give them something, such as info on where parties are or a house. |
