Statistical Analyzer:

Mason is an outstanding university that provides demanding academics in a part of the nation and the commonwealth of Virginia that has unmatched opportunities. My tenure there was academically challenging and socially enjoyable.

Some of the negative comments from posters on this site either were kicked out or have not been to the campus in years. While Mason was a majority commuter school - the same cannot be said now. There are more students living on campus than at JMU and other Virginia Universities. Mason projects to have 10,000 students living on campus in 5 years - more than at Virginia Tech.

In addition, the university is spending 350-400 million dollars on new dorms, facilities, renovations to the Fairfax Campus. As a result, new students will have the newest dorms and facilities of any university in Virginia.

Considering some people pay 20-25,000 a year at GW for an education that is not much better and to do so in an urban setting, Mason's green and wooded campus with new buildings, resources, opportunities, and excitement is a much better bargain.

In addition, the surrounding city of Fairfax is going through a major renovation itself to make it more attractive to pedestrians and make it easier to access from Mason.

GMU is the best kept secret in Virginia!
