Statistical Analyzer:

I was not planning on writing a review of the University of Michigan, primarily because college has to be experienced, it cannot be described. It is not a perfect school, but no school is. I have absolutely loved my time here. There are a few tips I have for incoming undergrads:

1) join the honors program or the residential college. One criticism I have heard is that the school is so big that you feel like a number. The honors program and the residential college provide smaller communities within the university where the administration gets to know you personally and will go out of their way to help you out.

2) take a lot of classes before you declare a major. One of the wonderful things about the university is that is is huge, and offers classes in departments that don't exist elsewhere. Take advantage of this, and you won't regret it. You may still decide to be a premed major or an econ major, but you may suprise yourself and go into oceanography or anthropology.

3) be open minded. Because there are so many people here, there are lots of different belief systems and mindsets, both conservative and liberal. Don't come here expecting to fit into the general crowd, be willing to explore opinions and perspectives different from your own.
