I feel that my three years at SAGU were full of great memories and a lot of hard work. Do I agree with everything done by the school? Absolutely not. Do I feel like this is a school where one can learn the skills needed to continue on in their chosen careers? YES!!! I feel that you get what you want out of any institution that you attend. NO college/university is perfect. There is always something that isn't your favorite thing about it.All I know is that in my experience SAGU has provided me with the skills that I needed to be a great teacher! Am I still learning? Yes. Did they teach me everything? No…and I don't really think they, or anyone else, could.Pros and Cons:Chapel was not always my favorite place to go and definitely not always my style, however, I believe that it was a vital part of my life. There I was able to worship and learn about how to apply the Bible to my everyday life. I knew this was a Christian university and wanted/needed that.Security is something that the school needs to work on. I personally never had a problem but I feel that there wasn't a very good system of campus safety…though I never felt unsafe.Curfew isn't always ideal but I feel that it keep me accountable. Did I get into trouble? Yes, and was on probation for a while but the school worked with me and I learned from my mistake. Besides, if you are serious about your education there may be sometimes when you need that curfew to help you make sure and get some sleep. :)The Faculty that I had regular contact with were very helpful. Especially the History department, where I spent most of my life, it seems. The professors know their stuff and are willing to work with everyone. I am actually continuing my graduate work with SAGU because of my wonderful History professors. The social life of SAGU is much like anywhere else…DRAMA, fun, friendships that will last a lifetime!! Being so close to the Dallas-Ft. Worth area means there is always something to do…and if you chose something a bit more low key, Waxahachie is a nice little town with some of your average resturants and hangouts but is continually growing.All-in-all I am proud to be a member of the alumni of SAGU and would recommend the school to anyone (my sister and her best-friend currently attend). |
