Do not live in the dorms! They are run-down and can be unbearably hot in the spring and summer. The staff are all knowledgeable and most are friendly and willing to help. My only complaint about staff comes from the math department. I also attended UK for 2 years and both UK and EKU have TERRIBLE math professors, especially college algebra professors. Something really needs to be done about these classes, as they have a 50% fail-rate. Night life is okay if you are 21, as there are plenty of bars around town, but there is a lack of entertainment if you are under 21. However, Lexington is only 20 minutes away, and you can find pretty much anything to do there. Most students seem to already have their own clicks. A lot of people that went to high school together seem to stick together at EKU, so socializing with people you don't know seems to rarely happen. The campus is very safe because EKU is a major school for criminal justice degrees and SEVERAL police officers and soon-to-be police officers attend this school. You never have to worry about crime on campus, just stupid stuff like people pooping in the dorm or setting a trash can on fire. Some classes are easy and others, that seemed easy, ended up being harder than they should have been, it all comes down to which professor you get.Overall, it's a good school.BTW, parking is nowhere near as bad as some people say. I went to UK for two years…THAT was bad parking. Parking at EKU is cake compared to bigger schools. |
