NC State was a phenomenal college experience. I grew as a person in terms of maturity and intellectual development. The academics in engineering were excellent, and I made a lot of friends. NC State is a well-grounded and unpretentious school. Nobody cares where you came from or how much money your family has - they're more concerned with who you are as a person. The people on campus are very friendly. You can talk to anyone. Being a large school, the student body isn't in to cliques or social groups. Instead, the student body is unified and a communal environment exists. NC State is like a large family that is always there for you as a student and an alumnus. I was highly challenged as an engineering student. The classes were competitive and interesting. Professors were approachable and did a good job bringing the technical curriculum to life. The social life at State was strong. Something is always going on in Raleigh, and you aren't far from the beaches or the mountains. The only negative I could say about State is that it is not a place for liberal arts. If you want to major in engineering, the sciences, architecture or agriculture, NC State is a great college experience. If you want to major in liberal arts, go to another school. |
