However, I quickly found that not to be the case, in fact, the programming professors made class so hard and boring, that my love of game development/programming was forever stabbed with a rusted butter knife. Half the time the servers we were supposed to test our code on crashed, and we had to create our own servers, as the teachers would not own up to their mistake and inability to maintain their computers. Also, to boot, the professors not only made us stay up late into the night, but required it for success. After pulling an abysmal 2.3 GPA my second quarter, I switched to Information-Technology (IT) and amazingly, the professors in this department are much more approachable, and explain things a lot better. We are not expected to be expert coders like in Game Development. the assignments are reasonable as well, and are not designed to torture us. On the social side, its not as bad as people say, there are many clubs, athletic teams and other opportunities to meet people, and I have met quite a few friends from these. However, many of the female students on campus (due to the male-female ratio) have unpleasant attitudes and get SICK of guys fast, so don't expect to hook up, unless you want a serious kind of relationship. Also, despite what other people say, there are parties here, even though they are not every day… and yes people do drink here despite the campus safety lurking around at all hours of the night. |
