The surrounding city is boring if you're not big on the beach or just hanging out. Though the campus is located in the most ghetto place in the county, compared to other places, it really isn't that bad. As far as the faculty goes, people are nice and the supporting faculty (in the financial aid office, security, etc.) are helpful. I have had several professors who have been rude, condescending, unfair, or even downright incompetent. I have also had professors who have been very fair, polite, competent, and helpful when help is needed. The school provides free tutoring but the people in the academic support center have always been extremely rude when I have been there. Most other students are rude, arrogant, and immature; I have often times felt like I am back in middle school or high school because of the other people on campus. Clubs I have tried to join have been cliquey and people have been rude. Because the school is so small, you can walk around later in the afternoon or any time on a weekend and not see another student.Though much of the campus looks nice, the academic quad, the dorm rooms, and the education department building are rundown, mildewy, and are in major need of renovation - most of the other buildings are in good condition. Overall, the majority of my classes have gone well because of small class sizes and several dedicated professors, though some have been hellish because of poor professors. My department is wonderful though my two years here have been lonely and filled with many annoyances. The school is not the worst school ever, in fact, I would consider it an average school seeing as the problems faced here are present at most colleges. I will say that this school is not worth the cost whatsoever and that you are really just paying for the schools reputation. |
