I felt anonymous and isolated for much of the time. But classes were generally good, and I was lucky to have a few great GSIs and professors. The number of annoying East Coast B-school kids at UM is kind of depressing, and there are WAY too many sororities and fraternities. One positive aspect is the easy access to computers and technology at UM. There are computer labs in all of the dorms (I'm pretty sure) as well as in Angell Hall and a few of the libraries. Students here drink a ton of alcohol so if you're not a heavy drinker, you'll either become one or have to look for fun elsewhere. I've decided to stick it out here at UM because of the challenging and interesting academics. You really have to be self motivated to succeed and feel comfortable here. |
