The opportunities for after college success are available to everybody. Perhaps people who didn't participate in those courses, workshops, or activities should have made better use of their academic time. It isn't the Universities responsibility to make sure you are doing what you need to do to ensure your success after college. They provide you with the knowledge base you need to succeed in your field of choice. What you do with that knowledge is up to you. Take it from me. A former FMU graduate class of 04'. Everything you need to be successful is located on the FMU campus. Perhaps some of the technology you needed wasnt there, but that doesn't mean you dont have access to it else where. I did a molecular genetics study as a senior. FMU didnt have all the materials I needed, but that didnt stop them from getting me what I didnt have and making arrangements with local facilities to access their materials. You just have to take an effort in your education and talk to those people who can help you (ie., your advisor or chair of your dept.)FMU is a smaller university and the funding of those u niversities is much smaller than that of "larger" universities. It's a sad, cold, hard fact. |
