i am very happy at santa cruz…and i am most definatly not a hippie…although there are many hippies at santa cruz i would say there are other types of people at sc..from preppy to goth. Everyone has their own style and people are mostly down to earth and chill. Santa cruz is a hit or miss…there is no in between you either love it or hate it… the campus is at the top of santacruz and is gorgeous…to have a social life you do have to know the right people …and be open to meeting/introducing yourself to all types of people…don't judge people by simply looking at them..there are so many intrigueing people at ucsc…you just have to put yourself out there and be willing to meet a lot of people…your experience also depends what college you live at..they each have their own stereo types..and let me tell you its they're pretty acurate with a some exceptions: Porter/kresge:hippies/druggies/artsie people. College 8: so bros/hos. oakes: very diverse: more minorities, more hip hop scene . Nine/ten: jocks/asians. crown/meril: science/math kids, very studious. cowell/stevenson: jocks/a lot of white people of course remember these stereotypes are not always true..but generally you get the jist. No matter what college you stay at its what you make of it and who your friends are,,,,
