The administration however, can manage things very poorly and are motivated only by money. It always seems everytime registration rolls around, there's something wrong with my schedule and they don't know who to send it to get fixed. Like chickens without heads. The campus is pretty ugly because of the constant construction, and the police are not so friendly. It's the social life that makes this place so undesirable though. If you want the college experience, go to U.S.C. or Clemson or Chapel Hill, etc. The school sanctioned clubs all suck, nothing too entertaining. We're in the mountains and we have NO outdoor clubs. To ASU's credit the Outdoor Program is good, but there's no social apparatus for it. It's difficult to meet people after you're here for a while. Not much to do in Boone but drink or smoke pot. If you aren't into the latter, like me, then there's REALLY nothing to do. I think, more than anything, Boone wears VERY thin if you actually grow up a little. Sure it's fun when you are 18 and only in college for everything OUTSIDE of class… but once you hit 20 somehow going from dorm room to dorm room taking shots doesn't seem so amazing. It's getting less and less safe up here, and the people can be sketchy, violent, and pretentious. You seem to get the worst of both city people, and farm kids. Everyone thinks they are God's gift to the world. If you're a guy Don't expect a stellar love life here… if any. I've had girlfriends at ECU, NCSU, UNCC, and Winthrop now and never in 4 years at my own damn school. Unless you're out for one night stands with free STDs, like bible thumpers, very rotund farm girls, or hippies, you're screwed. No complete packages here, just assorted train wrecks. The football program is a bright spot… one of the few. Think long and hard before coming here… by 21 you want nothing more than to get the hell out. |
