After leaving, I worked in Washington DC as a policy analyst for several years. It soon became apparent that the policy world was very different from the academic world. What the Chicago political scientists considered significant was not. What the Chicago political scientists dismissed as beneath them was actually quite significant. On the whole, the entire experience was a complete waste. I would have done better if I had never attended. |
