I am in the film program in Tisch and could not ask for a better school. Our teachers are amazing and helpful and the program encourages us to work together and get to know everyone in our major. It's NYC so there are film screenings, guest speakers, internships and films being made right outside our door. Regarding the social life, do not come to NYU if you want to go to frat houses and tailgate at the football game every weekend. you will not be doing any of that here. And the posts are true about there being a lot of gay guys. BUT living in nyc means you can do a lot of other cool stuff. There are tons of bars and clubs to go to (all you need is a fake ID…) and unless you stay in your room all day you WILL meet people and make tons of friends in your freshman dorm. I love NYU and dont be discouraged by all the negative remarks posted up here! You just have to accept that nyu is not a regular school, but in my opinion better one. We can get drunk and go to the toga parties at the MET, party at lofts in Brooklyn, study in central park, and intern at fashion magazines, wall street and production companies. There are unlimited things to do (which would result in the 'lack of community' people complain about) but once you have your group of friends you can really enjoy your time here. If all that is not something you are interested in, dont apply, nyu is not for everyone. but other than that NYU is great, i love it here!! |
