Just giving a perspective of what I have seen here in 5 years.

It is not a bad school what so ever as far as people and classes go. There of course is a concentration on education and music here so a lot of money goes towards those majors and the others come secondary. The other majors and their departments have a necessary amount of classes for you to graduate but they don't have a lot of new and different courses.

The professors are always available to make time and talk with you about your grades or what you don't understand about homework. All of them seem to have a very liberal point of view, and although some try to hide it and stay unbiased you see it come out of them eventually throughout the semester.

My first two years I lived in suites oncampus- dorm rooms that have three or more bedrooms with an adjoining living room. It was fun and it was a decent way of getting to know people. I eventually ended up making friends with people who I sat next to in my classes, I was able to talk to them more than any others.

The surrounding town is very small but it does help when it comes to doing your homework. There are a lot of mom&pop shops and I think thats what gives this town part of its beauty. You never meet an unfriendly face even if your just walking around town people always say hi with a smile. The weekends I think are really fun. There is plenty of both worlds. If you don't like the party scene the school always has something going on to occupy the beginning of your night and if you like to party there are houses next door to houses that provide plenty of entertainment. When I first started going to school here we had to pay $5 for every house we wanted to party at, now people don't charge at all and you get to party as long as you'd like. People are very nice and never mind new people coming into their house to hang out.

The bars are fun but small. You won't see any nightclubs here or after hour bars that stay open until 4 but you'll still get to dance and drink.

Overall I personally liked Potsdam. I'm having trouble figuring out where I will go from here because most reviews of campus's don't seem to be as friendly and welcoming as this one is.
