I'm graduating this semester and I'm glad that I'll be done with this school. A couple of things you should know. The school has gone downhill in some areas. There will be a gig price increase sometime in the near future, I'm sure of it. The original advisors in my program all left(Hmmmm?)and the new one that came in is terrible. She lies when you ask her stuff, never gets back with you and tends to be condescending and self-absorbed when you talk wit her. Please, if you get the same treatment then you should complain to the Dept.Chair Don Tomaskovic-Devey. Watch out if your major is in Sociology. This dept had definitely gone downhill since I started. Anyone who was any good left or has retired or is about to retire. I don't know what the problem is but there is definitely one. If you really want to major in sociology go to Rutgers or Chapel Hill. Do not go to UMASS! Anyways, on the good side, the food is good, the area is OK, I don't party so I don't know anything about that. Classes are large but I liked it like that. I picked most of my professors so I had a pretty good experience with receiving a quality educational experience. This past year I have noticed that some of the professors are apathetic and don't want to be involved in anything outside of their current workload. This is bad if you need a mentor, research experience or anything else like that. I don't like to feel like I'm a burden, so this was a complete turnoff. I would say if you can you should try to get into a better school or go to this one and do your best so that you can move up to a better grad school when you are done. Whatever you do my advice is do well and make sure you are happy with the school you go to. It cost too much money to be unhappy with your experiences wherever you go. Good luck.
