I was a natural science major (excellent major by the way) and the academic aspect of LMU was actually what kept me there for that second year. The staff are beyond approachable, half of them insist that you call them by their first name. however, there are considerable downsides. first the people. LMU is essentially a high school with a 500 million dollar endowment. there are infinite social cliques, most of the students are concerned with what is going on within their respective social circles, there are no greek houses therefore 1000% of parties occur off campus. there are a lot of privileged students enrolled therefore it is not unlikely to see a range rover or bmw. another downside is the entire population has a tendency to be fake. that is where the high school element comes into play. there is endless backstabbing, trash talking, and just juvenile behavior in general. most of the freshman class are kids who came from sheltered private schools and dont know how to act any different. but my largest disappointment in this institution is that 60 percent of the students are USC rejects. i actually chose LMU first and had no interest in SC so i was really upset to be in a crowd of people who didnt choose the school first. |
