If I had known what I know now about ODU, i would have RAN the opposite direction. The Office of Residence Life is the worst! Housing of course is not guarenteed, therefore if you do not turn in your paperwork seconds after you recieve it, forget about living on campus. However if you are lucky, and I mean lucky enough to live on campus, look forward to a RHD(residence housing director) to have a nonchalant attitude toward EVERYTHING. If for some reason you get placed with a roommate that you do not get along with, even after mediation be prepared to be on "a waiting list" to swap roomates for forever! Not to mention the city of Norfolk(in which ODU is located) is far from the safest(as the ODU higher-ups flat out lie about), it is like a "Compton" or "Detroit" of Virginia. When I arrived I was welcomed with text messages from the school alerting me that students living in walking distance from campus had been robbed and someone had fought off a rapist. The campus police which are there to protect, right? WRONG, instead they hand out business cards with their phone numbers on it in case of emergency. IN CLOSING, IF OLD DOMINION UNIVERSITY IS ON YOUR LIST, RECONSIDER! THEY DONT CALL IT "OL' DIRTY UNIVERSITY" FOR NOTHING!
