The chair of my department is a prime example. She is here for the university, not for the students. I had one class with her (a 2.5 credit class) that was filled with busy-work and occuppied my entire semester. While much of the information that she "taught" us was out of date since she has been OUT of the industry since the 1980s. And at the end of the day, FIT is about money, and getting more of it. I received no financial aide, and would have been able to graduate early had my chair signed off on paperwork, but since she wouldn't, I have been part-time ever since. It was a good program, and I am glad that I stuck it out (it took me 6 years) and completed it, yet when I think of the time and money put into it, and what I got out of it, I'm not too sure that it was worth it. In the end of the day, I finished for the paperwork. That's all. |
