These were by far the best four years of my life. I loved being challenged in my course work. Exams, papers and problem sets were never about regurgitating information read or received in lectures. Instead, all independent work was an opportunity to acquired knowledge and determine how it could be applied to novel situations. More than anything, this approach develops your critical thinking skills. My social life was great. Everyone I knew was involved in multiple activities. The often maligned eating clubs were actually a great way to go out and know how to run into everyone you know. Students weren't competitive with each other so much as with themselves, which lead to great study groups. My only wish is that there would have been more support and one on one time with professors in humanities courses for non-majors. |
