Statistical Analyzer:

Like every school, Wright state has its pros and cons. However, it seems like the pros are in unimportrantant areas like campus maintenance and cons are in education quality. I can only truly speak for the Engineering and Math. There are VERY few professors that actually teach the concepts behind the mechanics of a given subject. I think the Physics department is actually pretty good.

If you plan to live in the dayton area and are pursuing some sort of technical or scientific degree, then you may be considering working at WPAFB. The reason I'm bringing this up is because WSU does a lot of research for them. However, going to WSU means almost nothing when trying to get a job on the base. The exception is if you are a "legacy hire" (i.e. you get hired because you know someone regardless of your qualifications - big problem). Most of the people that work on base are contractors with one of the many huge corporations located in Dayton. The point being, these companies are not exactly scraping the bottom of the barrel for new hires. Think - why would I hire a WSU grad when I could hire a (insert well known school) grad.

My advice - if you are thinking about any school, look at its reputation in your particular field of interest. For example, WSU has a really good nursing program. Also, don't be fooled with misleading rankings such as a "Best Midwestern College" or "Best Value." Also talk to students about professors. If things like, "He curves the grades" or "She doesn't require much work" come up often, you may want to reconsider.

If you want to go to school in Ohio go to OSU or Miami U.
