I repeat there are no jobs. Doesn't really matter what your major is because most companies have put a freeze on hiring. This means that even if they need someone for the position then they still can't hire you. I have an excellent resume filled with internships, volunteer work and excellent grades(honors student) and hardly anyone has called me. I am disgusted. This is really a UMASS problem but they aren't going to tell you how bad it is either. I just thought I'd make everyone aware of the current problem. Some say this is going to be a lot worse by the end of the year. Just keep this in mind as you pick your major and invest in yourself. My friend graduated a half semester earlier than me and got a job right away. We both are about the same academically and also have the same interest. It's just my bad luck that the economy caved in before I graduated. |
