I love NYU because I hate college, if that makes any sense. The idea of being isolated on some rural campus with a bunch of sheltered overly-privileged white kids actually makes my skin crawl. You will NEVER find that type of person here, because everyone is forced to grow up, which I think is a good thing. Look, I know that society and everyone always says that college is supposed to be a time to "escape from reality" blah blah blah. But that seems so incredibly… unproductive to me. I would never, ever want to waste 4 years of my life on a campus. ever. NYU students have what many college graduates even don't. They have job experience, internships and most importantly they know how to operate in the REAL WORLD. Absolutely nothing is more valuable then that. At NYU you learn how to make friends, take care of yourself, and manuver a huge city. Rather then having things handed to you by the administration you are taught to GO AND GET what you want. NYU treats every student like the adult that they are supposed to be, and in the end it is more helpful then you could ever imagine. The people who sit around crying about how they are missing the "college experience" are clearly the people who still need time to grow up, and who would rather have things handed to them. My point is if you are ready reality (in the middle of NYC..aka the best city in the world) then head on over here. If not? Have fun sitting on some grass in the middle of nowhere while all us NYU-ers are miles ahead of you. |
