Internships/research opportunities for the social sciences and humanities are atrocious, and the Career Development Office is anemic in its support. For all its rhetoric about advancing social justice and correcting inequality, Pomona refuses to give serious support to those seeking a career in public service—i.e. don't expect any funding whatsoever for unpaid internships, and don't expect CDO officials to be knowledgeable about opportunities in the field, administration officials also tend to be obtuse on the subject. Friendly people, bad administration, poor resource allocation, and unequitable policies make for a subpar experience if you want to get ahead. |
