Though this school is perceived as predominantly military themed, I'd like to stress that it is perfectly suited for ANY student, regardless of military or government affiliation. That being said, the ideal student is probably one that has a full time life and still wants to go to school. I have found the University to be extremely well fit for working professionals. The University is now regionally and nationally accredited which is wonderful - their financial aid program is superb and without superior to community college aid programs. I have attended five schools in five years and this is the only time that my financial aid went seamless and was completey understandable when relayed back to me. True, there is no real campus to go (lest you reside in the WV,VA area) but with that comes the beauty of the paperless college. You will not have to sumit countless busy papers for enrollment, you will not have to resubmit items several times before someone finally gets it. The price is steep, but only in comparison to public community school. As far as the online college community goes, the price is extremely competitive, and undergraduates have a 100% book grant - in addition, you will be reimbursed for the books that you never paid for when you go to resell them back to the book vendor. Cons - I have taken two courses that now have no physical text...only ebooks. I personally do not prefer this but many students do. The level of education has never been less than I expected. But I have had a few classes that I found very challenging. Not at an unfair level, but at a reasonable level (and most likely preferred compared to community college). The professors are nothing short of resident experts in the classes that they teach and the military specific courses are without equal. This college mandates that you complete 12 credit hours between each change of program or major, this I do not enjoy as we often find other majors that seem more appealing or more applicable to our current situation and that can change at any time. If you are a military member you will receive all of your electives as credited for undergraduate degrees based on military experience. This is very helpful and allows you to focus on the core and gened courses. Wonderful school! I'd like to see them in the Yellow Ribbon program now that the Post 9/11 GI BILL will be going in effect. I am sure that they will lose students due to the lack of payment for online schooling. But this could be subsidized if the bill was covered.
