After doing research about the school and deciding to enroll, my expectations of Indiana were through the roof, probably a bad thing to do regardless of where your going. The teachers and professors here are good, very open to individual help. The students themselves are touch and go, I very commonly see groups of kids who went to the same high school just transfering their clique on to IU (since the school is a bargain for instate residents), and for me, I didn't know really anyone from my high school coming here. Big plus is the girls, all very good looking and big in numbers, but don't expect to get close to them without being drunk. In terms of the social life, its obviously good. The greek community is very overpowering though. I was told that you can have a good time without going greek, but thats completely false, I am joining a fraternity, but it is off campus and much more casual than the hardcore frats. Most frats are really fake and just conform to whatever they were told while pledging. In terms of the town, bloomington is very disappointing. Its a nice town with restaraunts and shopping, but the transit is a pain in the ass, and theres nothing outside the town, almost like your trapped. The bars here are 21, and very strict, most of them requiring 2 or 3 forms of ID. |
