That said, there are some downsides to this university, there is a huge emphasis on partying and greek life that can leave those on the outside feeling like there is nothing to do. While this is not true (Bloomington is an incredible town for the arts, dinning, and other things) the greek/party scene could probably be brought into check. Academics so far have been what I expected, I greatly enjoy SPEA and my professors do an excellent job of challenging me as well as being interested in helping. Between IU's Jacobs School of Music, SPEA, Kelley SOB, the journalism school, psychology, and other top programs I have no clue why IU as a whole is not ranked higher by traditional rating systems. My only guess is that they might find our school incomplete in that we lack an engineering program. Overall my experience at IU, thus far, has been good, though my academic experiences have been much better than my social experiences. |
