While I graduated from Genesee Community College some time ago (1976), I have stayed in contact with the college and continue to comment about my positive experiences there. During a recent visit, I found the college and its programs to be stronger than ever.

Genesee Community College is an outstanding State University of New York-affiliated facility located near the small city of Batavia in Western New York. Through excellent planning and management, the administration and community leaders have created one of the best two-year colleges in New York State. Unlike most community colleges that mainly serve local students, Genesee?s unique programs attract students from all over the state and several international countries. It is one of only a few New York State two-year colleges that offer on-campus housing.

There is positive energy everywhere you go on this compact, modern, safe and technologically-advanced campus. The administration and professors really care about student?s success. Class sizes are small. Most students are motivated and friends are easily made. The low cost of tuition makes the college an exceptional value. All buildings, with the exception of the town home-style dormitories, are connected. This eliminates the need for walking outside between classes in the cold, snowy Western New York winters.

Some Genesee Community College students begin their careers immediately after graduation, but many transfer to four-year universities as I did. If you decide to continue your education (which I highly recommend), you will find yourself well-prepared.

When I recently showed the college to a perspective student from outside the area, she described it as a hidden gem. I couldn?t agree more.
