I'm in my third year here as a transfer student and there are a lot of good things and a lot of bad things about this school. The Good: it's in New York City, one of the greatest cities in the world. The campus is actually quite nice; there is a decent amount of greenery in the area. The Bad: the administration is absolutely useless, there is a lot of red tape for EVERYTHING. The school is extremely crowded and the CUNY system is doing nothing to alleviate this issue. Because of overcrowding, classes fill up quickly, leaving you stranded if you need a specific class to graduate. Many of the non-academic employees act like they have a chip on their shoulder. The student workers (Work Study) are very arrogant and condescending. Many of the students seem to have a chip on their shoulder as well, as if they don't want to be there. The Art department has some issues as well; the secretaries can be extremely rude. Much of the time, the faculty are unavailable. And some of the classes are good, but expectations are unclear. It's cheap to come here, but it's not worth it. If you want to go to a CUNY, go to Hunter. |
