The Norfolk/Virginia Beach area has a lot of variety, so you definitely won't feel isolated here or as if there is not much to do. I am not really into the party scene, but from what I have heard, it does exist here. However, I do not feel safe walking alone after dark. There is some kind of safety incident - robberies, assaults, etc. - just about every week.
