Providence College is an amazing school if you know what its like going in. Students like to drink and are mostly upper middle class, but I would not say students act arrogant or snobby in the least. Actually, compared to my highschool, students are extremely nice. Girls are always walked back to dorms, everyone is polite, and door-holding is a must. I went to a public school and I feel like that makes me sort of a minority, as most people went to Catholic high schools.

Yet the Catholicism of PC is not overbearing in the least. Everything is very objective; the tour makes it seem like a very Catholic school yet it is barely noticeable as a student unless you get involved with church and ministry.

Nightlife at PC is, to say the least, amazing. Providence is a great city with many bars (even "freshman" bars) that you get into with a horrible fake id. If you don't drink now you most likely will within your first 2 days of orientation. Yet everyone is concerned about grades, so the drinking is closely balanced with studying.

Studying and academics are big at PC. It is by no means an easy school, especially with the load of work you'll get as a freshman in Civ (honestly its ridiculous). All of the faculty seems competent, and academic advisers as well as professors are more than accessible. You will get an amazing education at PC, there is no doubt about that.

Athletics are big; athletes are everywhere and students are really passionate about basketball and hockey. More than 1/4th of students hold basketball season tickets, with the majority buying individual tickets for most big games. Yet athletes are treated for the most part like regular students, you see them every day and they sit next to you in class.

If you do not go out and are the kind of kid to sit in your dorm all night playing video games, you probably will not like PC. Not that you have to drink (although there is pressure to), but you have to atleast get involved in SOMETHING (club, intramurals are HUGE) and make friends with your floor during orientation. If you like to have fun and are friendly, smart, and want to have a good time and get a great education, come to Providence College.
