Statistical Analyzer:

Umass amherst is what you make of it. There is literally every kind of person here from jocks to extreme "nerds". I didnt really expect to come here I could have gone to much more "better" schools but from the price, talking to my friends who go to private schools, the amount of research I did, and the amount I have already learned. I know that my choice of this undergraduate, especially the science program, will not hinder me when I am finding a job. The classes, apart from lectures, are usually pretty small and so far, I have only gotten teachers who are genuinely interested in my education.

It does have a reputation for being a party school but from what I have gathered it is really not more than any other big school. Indeed, there are places on campus (southwest) which party more and other areas (Orchard hill) where I have lived and it is extremely quiet. You can do whatever you want on a Friday night from finding people to drink with to studying with more people. From reading what other people have written on this site the people who didn't like it were people who seem fixed on the fact that this is a huge "party school" and weren't very open. If you come into Umass amherst with a positive outlook I guarantee you will get an awesome education and have some of the best times of your life.
