The students in the college of DAAP tend to be more liberal and open to new ideas than the overall student body and come from families in possession of greater sums of money than the average student. Although undergrad Planning schools are not ranked (only grad schools are), professors assure us that our Planning Program would be number one because of the exposure to a design background rather than a strictly policy background. Although DAAP is not not very bureaucratic and every faculty member within DAAP is easily accessible, the University onestop center is a disgusting piece of work. The people working for onestop are hostile, waiting to speak to a representative is time consuming, and then when one needs to access a certain department within the onestop center to inquire about something like a misprint on a bill, it is impossible to do so by phone. As there is a cap on tuition, the school increased all other fees to make up for the lost revenue. A school error forced me to pay a $200 late fee! I really hate the bureaucratic mess at UC and would not recommend attending here unless you wish to deal with this mess.If you are interested in Planning, do what I should have done and go to Cal Berkeley, MIT, or Harvard. |
