The business department is very challenging and you MUST stay on your toes if you want A's in your classes. If you are a business student, be prepared to take on a lot of homework and study time while some of the students in the other majors are out having a blast on their weekend. I guess you have to pay the cost if you want to be the boss. Anyhow, they feed us like royalty here. I'm telling you, I eat better meals here than I ever did at home and I NEVER regret eating too much because UMass is pretty big and I have to walk to all of my classes, therefore my calorie intake stays at an acceptable level and I never gain weight. You can find so many types of people here. If you don't like a certain group, move on to the next, it's that easy and it's that simple. The hockey games are so much fun and the town of Amherst is quite lovely. They have a mall nearby, a Wal-Mart, Target, etc..It's so peaceful and relaxing. Depending on the class your taking, your class can range from being HUGE to being very small. For instance, my Accounting class has around 450 students, you can imagine how hard it is for the teacher to have ALL of the student's attention. MY Calculus class has around 300 students. In opposition, my Econ 348 class has no more than 20 students. Class size depends on many factors. As for the dorms, I live in Northeast, traditional New England dorms that are made out of brick. The facility is old but the rooms are quite nice and the people here tend to be more focused, reserved, and laid-back, which is my style. Also, before coming here, be fully aware that it DOES get very cold. For those of you who are not from New England, make sure you have your winter gear ready; YOU WILL NEEED IT. When Spring hits, this place is beautiful.I do believe that some of the buildings need more color and reinovation but that's okay. You can do whatever you want here. I really enjoy being here. The people are quite interesting and very truthful. There are some good-looking guys too, which is nice. Make sure you choose your friends wisely, because that can usually make or break your experience. You certainly won't find stuck-up, snoobish prudes like you find at a lot of private schools, we know how to keep it real here.
