I'm a transfer student in from out of state, and I did a large amount of research on the institution I wanted to attend prior to gaining admittance. Most of the negative reviews seem a little off base. Yes. The students are arrogant and reek of entitlement, but it's a private university. Unfortunately, that's to be expected. There isn't a lot of diversity, but that kind of goes with the region. Also, being a non-traditional student, the student body was a little hard to break into, but that has worked out fine. Finally, it is a Jesuit school, so there is a bit of that presence, but it isn't overwhelming. The academics, on the other hand are top-notch for upper division coursework (I can't comment on any lower-division since I never had to take it). The class sizes are manageable, and many of the professors are accessible and know the students by name. Also, they are extremely knowledgeable and open to student input. Finally, the alumni network is extremely tight-knit and available, which is one of the main reasons I chose this school. The negative reviews are what they are. Also, despite what some of the other reviewers say, the city is EXTREMELY welcoming of students (the reviewer who wrote it must not get out of the Logan neighborhood). Yes, the city sucks, yes the students are full of themselves, but the education itself is excellent. I would totally recommend it. |
