UMass Amherst is an amazing school. I loved it and I miss every minute of my experience. It took some time for me to get used to the school when I first arrived as a freshman. I quickly made friends and enjoy the best years of my life. Because of it's size, the school is what you make it. Many students drop out the first year because they don't know how to balance their social lives and schoolwork. No one is there to hold your hand so you have to know when to ask for help. You learn quickly that you need to be your own ambassador which is an important life skill to have anyway. There are plenty of places to turn to and people to help you. Once you get passed the initial phase, UMass Amherst has everything you can ask for: challenging classes, friendly people, a beautiful campus, a huge range of research opportunities, social activities, the list goes on. The resources are expansive and most of the professors are more than happy to help. The campus is always full of activities and opportunities. The one mistake I made was I didn't plan for my career after school and didn't get enough experience (my own fault). I did participate in the commonwealth college which helped me stay focused and challenged. I'm now attending graduate school and I know my experience at UMass Amherst will help me succeed. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
