Overall the coursework isn't so bad, but most of the time the communication with the staff other that the instuctors is horrible the majority of the time. There are a few staff members that do thier job very well, but unfortunately, they are outnumbered by those that don't. I am at a disadvantage because I live 6 hours away from the institution and whenever I need a copy of an approved form or etc., it is almost impossible. If you become a distant education student you need to be a determined person and ready to ask for things over and over again to get anywhere. And the VA affairs department is also impossible at times. I don't think I have ever had a single semester where I haven't had to battle with the VA counselor about getting certified for the GI Bill, but in the end I was always proven to be right, but yet again I go through the same thing each semester. The advisement sucks. Everytime I email my so called "advisor" with a question or to be advised on what courses to take, I am always redirected to someone else. I do have to say that I usually get what I need accomplished but the faculty and staff don't make it easy. If you are a student that has no other option but to take online courses like me, this university might be for you, just be ready to fight for what you need. |
