For a school with a lot of hype attached to its name, UNC is one cataclysmic disappointment. Southern Public Ivy.But I think that the school gave itself that name. In addition, the Business school and other programs are notorious for not giving grades below a C so that their rankings remain high. The school is obviously very proud of their "diversity," as seen on every single thing they publish. However, there really is no real diversity here. Whites hang out with whites, blacks hang out with blacks, Asians hang out with Asians, and so on and so forth. The social scene, along with being severely segregated, is a bit lame. Greek life dominates too much of the student body and frats and sororities are notorious for coke use. Chapel-Hill also tries to make itself seem like a "college town" but its not. It isn't Athens, Georgia and this isn't UGA. The town hates the school and the tension between them is almost as bad as the tension between the whites and the blacks on campus. |
