That being said, it is no secret that JMU's prestige is declining fast. Most people in the academic community would no longer put JMU in the top five - and that is def. not a biased statement (UVa, W&M, Mason, UR and UMW are all better academic institutions) JMU is now known as a tier-2 party school. It has a similar feel to Radford University, in a variety of ways, although it DOES have a MUCH better academic reputation. JMU students and alumni are awful prideful of their school, and often get really defensive about JMU - they typically has a skewed sense of JMU's reputation throughout the state. JMU IS a legitimate, reputable school, but its not what it used to be… |
