I'm almost done with my freshman year at PC, and I don't want it to end. My biggest concern coming into PC had to with the fact that it is a pretty big drinking school—I don't drink/party at all, so I was pretty nervous after reading about it on sites like this. Yes, a majority of students do drink, but you don't have to let that affect you. Some people do think it's kinda weird that I don't drink, but they respect that and don't really pressure me to do it. I've found a great group of friends, and none of them drink either, but we always have a good time. The school has so many events going on throughout the week and on the weekends, and there's always stuff to do in Providence. And when this doesn't work? It's always fun to just hang out around campus with friends.

Classes are pretty tough, with a ton of reading and paper writing, but you learn a lot and the professors are really good. Civ is a mixed bag - I'm in honors civ and it's great, but it seems like civ is either a "love it or hate it" type thing. When it comes time to do homework, there are plenty of places to do it too. When it's nice out, you can always find a good spot outside (by the way, the campus is wicked nice - I didn't think so when I went on my first tour, but it's really grown on me). And there are plenty of study areas, in dorms, Slavin, the library, and my favorite—the Campus Ministry Center.

The best thing I ever did at PC was get involved in Campus Ministry. I'm in so many of the Campus Ministry groups (get involved, it's awesome!), and I practically live in the chapel basement. I've made some of the best friends of my life through Campus Ministry - there are some seriously great people there.

I began my freshman year as a commuter student because I didn't think I'd want to live on campus, but halfway through the semester I decided to move on because I fell in love with PC. Despite its problems, PC is just an awesome place. I've really been able to grow here and find myself while having one of the best years of my life.
