It is all greek life. The student population is not diverse at all. There may be a total of 5 minorities in the whole school. One one hand, you have the in-state students that are typical Virginian's (redneck's that drink budweiser and talk about how the south will rise again). On the other hand, and this population is even worse, you have the prep school students. These people are either rich or try to act rich. They wear pink shorts, yellow polos, sandals in the middle of the winter, and have long hair sticking out of their hat that says nantucket on it. Basically, a bunch of clowns. The student population is not very intelligent. They consider a good time going to the same houses every week, just wearing different vineyard vines and pink lacoste shirts. As for the city of Salem and Roanoke, what a joke. There is absolutely nothing there unless you are part of Salem's local Klu Klux Klan chapter (meets about 2 minutes from campus). The faculty is not particulary impressive, and the school is waaayy overpriced. About half of the freshmen class leaves after the first year, and for a good reason. Don't waste your time or money on this snake oil. Unless you like to play dress up and pretend you are on Nantucket in December. |
