I started at SJSU Fall 2009. I came from southern California. I was looking for a good college experience by moving far away. It is about 5 and a half hours from my home. I Lived on campus in the freshman suites. I was NOT satisfied. I had room mates who were EXTREMELY rude. They never repected any of the girls. These girls were very open about the fact that they were minorities and any white people can go _____ themselves. Every time anyone in the suite had a problem, the RAs did NOTHING. Even the building supervisor never did anything about our on going problems. The social life DOES NOT EXIST! Guys are not allowed in ANY parties unless they are part of a frat. I am not joking when i say they are not allowed into ANY of them. They check IDs and Frat/Sorority lists to see if you are qualified. A lot of the time, girls are let into any of the parties. There is NO alcohol at the parties either. Unless you act promiscuously toward the frat boys. The girls and guys who do have alcohol are usually very drunk and a lot of times throwing up. The Frat guys are ugly and arrogant. The sororities are VERY separated. Girls are mad if you do not join their sorority, and will purposely make you feel isolated at events/parties.

The classes were basic. Nothing interesting, just lecture, notes, papers and tests . I wrote what seemed like a million papers at san jose.

By the way. When did they expect me to Graduate? 2015. I started in 2009. Thats 6 years!!!!!!!!!

Take my advice, look at how many students do not return their next year of college at SJSU.

I knew people from my highschool who got a 2.5 GPA, barely had the requirements met to go to San Jose, and got in. This is not an impressive school.

If you will be looking for a JOB when you arrive, think again. Jobs are impossible to find in this city. I never found one, even though i have an excellent resume and great experience.

This is a commuter school. Once you get here, everyone already has friends. You will NOT meet people in your classes. The only way to meet people is through the dorms, or joining a sorority/frat, which i highly reccoment against. They are expensive, around $1200-$1800 a semester. At this school. The philanthropy (community service) they do is a joke. They are least concerned about their duty to the community.

I did meet a few nice people along the way and through the sorority I joined while I was there, but overall, I was unhappy the majority of the time. It was not a good experience. I left feeling like a failure after one semester. However, it was not worth it there.

If I could take it all back, I would. I had the opportunity to go to a UC school. Not berkely or anything, but a few of the easier ones to get into, and I denied it thinking I would get the same education for less at a Cal State. I sincerely urge you to realize that you get what you pay for. College and your education are worth investing in.
