It was interesting reading some of the reviews prior to posting this. I read the negative comments and agreed. Then i read the positive comments and agreed. For some reason the positive comments all mention the negative aspects of the school but as positive reasons to attend.

I am a Penn State graduate and when my children are in high school I will greatly discourage them attending college. My experience was a waste of time and money. I could have better used my time in a technical college or working my way up into management at a large company. I would be making better money and have more years in at a work place.

I will give you two examples of the average Penn State class. My original major was actuarial science, so I took the first class required for the major. Only one professor "teaches" this class so you are stuck with him. The class was him writing out of the text book on a projector for forty minutes. The tests were questions about finance we never went over and each question was worth ten points. Five of those points were awarded for drawing a picture, any picture. I passed the class by drawing a bell curve on every question at the start of each test. Another class started off by the professor requiring us to buy the text book that was never used, but coincidentally was written by him. He would award bonus points for things like closing the door for him or opening a window in the summer.

This school does not teach you anything, especially not about what you will need to know after graduating. The faculty is not helpful, or even competent most of the time. Don't forget about the dean raising tuition every year so he can give himself a raise to able to afford the school housing he lives on and school food he eats. As a side note I enjoyed the branch campus a started at, but the main campus should be shut down.
