I would advise against going to this school.

Although the small size of the school and faculty can be advantageous at times, it also lends itself to creating cliques.

There is absolutely NO TECHNIQUE TAUGHT by ECUAD teachers, very-very little hands on Instruction. If you are interested in Film or Animation you are better of going someplace where they show you HOW to DO STUFF, rather than just talking about THEORY. I must say that the classes on Art, Film History and Theory are generally high quality Academic Courses. On the other hand the Teachers responsible for Studio Classes are more interested in Critique rather than Teaching Technique upon which one could build on and develop. If you are in anything other than Industrial Design, plan on going to Graduate school, because this school does not give you the necessary knowledge and technical skills to succeed in a Studio Environment. Most of the Animation Teachers came out of the NFB artist environment, where One created One Animated Film - payed for by an NFB Grant. That worked well in the 60's and 70's but today there are more animators than you can shake a stick at, and Grants are much fewer and smaller than before. If you are studying Film do not count on getting your hands dirty, learning on the job - it is 95% Theory. Which is great to learn about Godard and the French New Wave, but not enough to actually feel comfortable with your level of Technical Skills outside of School. VFS and even SFU gives Film Students more in terms of Hands on Instruction. In Emily Carr University, Critique is the only major source of Direction but without solid technical Instruction its value is highly questionable.

Because the Faculty for each Major is so small, if you have a disagreement with One of them - it will AFFECT YOUR WHOLE EDUCATION - as Teachers will of course Close Rank and treat you accordingly, even if you had a good relationship with them Previously.

The Student body is also small compared to other Universities and the School itself often has a "High School Atmosphere" as a TA once quipped.
