I was a smart but lazy kid in high school who made a mistake and couldn't get into a four year school. So I made a plan for myself to attend NVCC for only two semesters and transfer as soon as possible. Now I can proudly say that I've done just that.

A piece of advice for anyone following in my footsteps: DO what I did (if youre a social person who wants to enjoy the student life of a university.)

Second piece of advice: DONT rely on the advisors to help get you through your semesters. I signed up for classes on my own and decided what I needed to transfer. Seriously if you talk to an advisor, he/she will recommend Physical Ed classes that you don't need, or scare you into thinking that transferring with less than 30 credits is impossible. It's not. Just pull up the course transfer page of the four year school you want to go to and take the Gen Ed courses that you need; which leads me to my next piece of advice:

DON'T just take elective courses here! Take maybe one or two, if you want to transfer within a year. NVCC is perfect for knocking out Gen Ed classes, but you should leave the fun electives to your four year school. I mean you want your future four year school to see that you've applied yourself. So DONT be lazy and put in the extra effort.

Next piece of advice: get to know your professors, and find the best ones at ratemyprofessor.com. Despite having a terrible advising faculty, NVCC has some really knowledgable teachers, who are easy to befriend. They really show support for whatever it is you're planning to do at NVCC.

Next piece of advice: If you want a social atmosphere, unfortunately YOU will have to do all the work. Students here are either really shy, or conform to their own cliques. So you'll have to put in a lot of effort to make some friends. Now with that being said, I can say that for the most part, people here are very friendly once you get to know them. Even though I'm leaving NVCC, I still keep in touch with some people.

That's all I've got for you, the reader. Basically NVCC is your chance to fix your mistakes and work hard to get into a better school. It's also a good way to save money. I spent about $6000 dollars for both semesters and it was worth it. Oh! One more piece of advice: buy used textbooks at amazon. You'll save a fortune.
