Since it boasts about being ranked number 3 best in the West, I thought my classes would be challenging. I NEVER had homework. Thats fine, except that I was paying $810 per credit. My Philosophy final exam took me 20 minutes, and I got an A on it, and in the class. Even though I took the max amount of credits, I never had homework. I was very disappointed with the levels of academics. I had gone to private Catholic schools before, but I cannot say that there is much spirituality here. A lot of religion though. The students and faculty are extremely nice. However, most are privileged and wealthy and it is difficult to relate to people that live in a bubble. Few of the students seemed to have any real life experience. Although there are many clubs on campus, their activities are sporadic and the connections made between members are superficial. Gonzaga is also located adjacent to the Logan neighborhood, which has high crime rates. There is a Safeway within walking distance, as well as a mall, but if you prefer not to spend $150 dollars on jeans every weekend, it gets old. Other than that, there is not a lot to do. Yet, most of the students seem content to sit in their dorms all the time. Aside from everyone being so friendly, the campus is beautiful. One good point, but a pretty picture isn't everything. |
